Situated within the southern section of Table Mountain National Park, Cape Point is one of Southern Africa’s must-see destinations. The narrow stretch of land, with its beautiful valleys, bays and beaches, is surrounded by the cold Atlantic Ocean to the west and the warmer waters of False Bay and the Indian Ocean to the east. Table Mountain National Park forms part of the Cape Floral Region, a World Heritage Site comprising eight protected areas and covering 553 000ha. The Cape Floral Region is one of the richest in the world.Cape Point is home to over 250 bird species and a variety of animals. Visitors often encounter the resident Chacma Baboons, the Cape Mountain Zebra and various antelope species such as Eland and Bontebok. Whales can be seen on their annual migration past the Point, between May and November. Facilities at Cape Point include the Two Oceans Restaurant, the Flying Dutchman Funicular and 3 retail outlets that carry quality memorabilia.

The Two Oceans Restaurant occupies an enviable position above False Bay at the south-western tip of Africa. The restaurant is famous for its seafood cuisine and its superb wooden deck that looks out onto one of the most stunning ocean views in South Africa. It was recently refurbished to suit its location by reflecting elements of the ocean. The restaurant, that includes a sushi bar and offers world-class cuisine and service to which visitors of Cape Point have become accustomed. The restaurant also manages the Two Oceans Food Shop which caters for picnics and private functions.

The Flying Dutchman Funicular transports visitors up a steep slope to the top lighthouse where they can take in the magnificent views. A new and improved Flying Dutchman Funicular was launched in June 2010 and boasts a new body, safer braking technology and bigger windows that allow visitors 360 degree views. The Funicular is named after the famous ghost ship, the Flying Dutchman.

Cape Point is managed by the Thebe Tourism Group, in conjunction with Tolcon Lehumoand South African National Parks (SANParks).

Travelex Retail Foreign Exchange is operated in South Africa by FX Africa Foreign Exchange.

FX Africa Foreign Exchange is one of the largest specialised foreign exchange businesses in South Africa. The company is licensed by the South African Reserve Bank to trade in certain foreign exchange products and services.

51% of the issued share capital of FX Africa Foreign Exchange is held by the Thebe Tourism Group, a subsidiary of Thebe Investment Corporation while 49% of the issued share capital is held by Travelex Limited.

Since 2001, FX Africa has grown from 2 to around 52 branches in South Africa.

FX Africa is looking to expand further into the South African market, particularly in mainstream shopping centres, and to gain larger corporate accounts.

Cape Union Mart

Batsumi is Thebe Tourism Group’s joint venture with South Africa’s leading outdoor equipment and apparel retailer, Cape Union Mart. Batsumi is a major stakeholder in both the Cape Union Mart store at the OR Tambo International Airport as well as the Adventure Centre on Quay 4 at the V&A Waterfront.Cape Union Mart supplies high-quality outdoor gear and apparel for both local and international conditions. Free presentations, covering topics such as hiking the Otter Trail, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and mountain biking expeditions in South East Asia, are hosted at stores across the country. Experts are invited to share their experiences and give tips to would-be adventurers.In addition to the interesting talks and climbing competitions held in-store, Cape Union Mart is also home to a wide range of great local and international brands including K-Way, Old Khaki, Garmin, Leatherman, Salomon, Deuter, Hi-Tec, Cat and Merrell to name but a few.
